My Quarantine Morning Routine

Updated: Jan 7, 2022

Hi! How are you doing?

Let's chat about morning routines! Do you have a morning routine?

I recently changed my morning routine since the Covid-19 quarantine started and I'm feeling more productive and calm than ever. Before the safer at home order started, I would rush off to the Pilates studio for early private sessions. Now that I've been quarantining at home, I'm able to have more "me time" in the morning.

I wake up around 6:00 am without an alarm almost every day. The latest I'll get up is probably 6:30 am. As soon as I'm up, I put on workout clothes, wash my face, and brush my teeth.

Then I turn on my Keurig. While I wait for my coffee, I feed my 4 cats. Once my coffee is ready, I bring it over to my couch.

I start off with a 10 minute meditation from my Calm app. I then listen to my affirmations and life vision that I prerecorded to listen to daily.

After meditating, I'll write in my 5 minute journal. I'll write 3 things I'm grateful for and 3 things I'll do to make the day great.

Then, I'll write a little bit in my regular journal. I'll jot down thoughts in my mind or whatever is happening in my life. I usually don't spend any longer than 10 minutes writing.

After journaling, I'll message my clients checking in.

After checking in with my clients, I do the most important task on my list. I'll work on that for an hour or so.

Then I get ready to workout. I do my 25 minute HIIT workout and lift weights Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After working out, I stretch and I do my shoulder overheads with my stick to keep my posture in check.

After all that, I'll watch one of my online courses I'm taking and then clean the litter boxes.

I'm finished with that whole routine by 8:30 a.m. and ready to conquer the day. Since I'm working from home, it's a little easier to have a later morning routine.

As a result of doing this routine for nearly 2 months, I'm feeling more at peace and less stressed. I've decided to keep this routine once everything opens up again because it just sets me up for a great day.

Notice I haven't mentioned checking email or social media. I save that for after 10:00 a.m. It's best to create your own morning routine that sets you up for a nice day. Take care of you first so you can take better care of everyone else.
