I've been teaching Pilates for 5 years now and I'm still loving it. I know it hasn't been that long, but I hope to teach Pilates as long as I'm able to. I just love seeing how my clients are getting stronger, improving their core strength and having better balance.
Here are some reasons why you should start doing Pilates:
Tones muscles in a non-bulky way.
It's low impact so it's great for all ages from kids to seniors.
Improves balance to prevent falls.
Strengthens your core.
Improves posture especially for people who have rounded shoulders from looking at their phone with their head down or sitting at their computer too long.
Improves flexibility which can prevent injury.
Improves endurance. Depending on the level of Pilates class, each exercise requires inner and outer strength which will improve over time.
Deepens your mind-body connection. Pilates requires a lot of focus and concentration which helps you to execute each exercise with control and ease. You will eventually be more in tune to your body and have more body awareness.
It's fun! I'm biased but every exercise is challenging which makes it exciting! There are so many different kinds of exercises to do and a lot of equipment to use (Mat, Magic Circle, ball, bands, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Ped-A-Pull and many more) so every Pilates workout is different!
Hope I convinced you to take a Pilates class :) If you have never tried out a Pilates class, try it soon! Let me know what you think!
And if you already do Pilates, what kind of equipment do you use?
Love,
Coach Robin
