Spent the weekend at a Hobbit House

A couple of weekends ago, my husband and I stayed at a Hobbit House near San Diego, CA. It was probably the best Airbnb I've ever stayed at. If you are a fan of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, you must book a trip to stay in the house.

The house was just lovely outside.

It was also lovely inside.

Even on a hot day, it stayed cool inside. If you want it cooler, there are portable fans to use. And if you visit during the winter season, you can use the furnace.

The toilet and shower are outside.

There is no electricity or cell service in the Hobbit House. In the house, there are many flameless candles and lanterns. They even provide flashlights to use when you're outside at night.

It was the perfect weekend to celebrate a birthday and also to recharge from technology.

If you do book a weekend, or longer, to stay at the hobbit house, here are some tips:

- If you know you'll miss watching TV, download a movie or a show to watch while you're at the house. For example, you could download The Hobbit.

- Bring a book

- Bring hiking shoes to hike The Hobbit Trail right next to the house

- You could also download songs, a playlist, or some podcasts to listen to.

- Make sure to bring some groceries because the nearest grocery store is about 20 minutes away. The nearest restaurant is a winery, and you'll need to make a reservation there.
