How I Minimize Stress

Updated: Aug 19, 2021

I go through ebbs and flows of stress. But, most of the time, it’s because I scheduled too much in a day. Below, I’ve listed some things that help me minimize my stress levels.

Do the most important thing: sometimes we get overwhelmed with so many things on our to-do list. Focus on getting the most important thing done on your to-do list as soon as you can once you wake up.

Don’t overcommit: Say yes to events and meetups that you want to attend. Of course, it’s okay to say ‘no,’ and I’m sure people will understand if you can’t participate in their event. I try my best to schedule no more than two events or appointments per day outside of work.

Meditate: I use the Calm app for meditations. There are all kinds of meditations to choose from: sleep, anxiety, beginners, stress, work, self-care, inner peace, and many more!

Exercise: I never regret a workout once I’ve done it. I love Pilates, HIIT, cycling, and Virtual Reality workouts. It’s best to choose an exercise that you’ll look forward to doing. Exercising is known to reduce levels of stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. In addition, it stimulates the production of endorphins which can elevate your mood.

Declutter: A cluttered space leads to a cluttered mind.

Relax: My kind of relaxing is watching a good show or reading. A quick nap helps too.

Get enough sleep: When I get enough sleep, I can do everything I want to do and feel more energetic.

Do what makes you happy: I stick to whatever things bring me joy. I’ll try new things, and if it becomes boring, I’ll let it go.

Ask for help: Whenever I feel I have too much on my plate, I ask my husband to help me out.

Hang out with people you like: It’s always nice hanging out with people who are supportive, engaging, and make you laugh.

What do you do to minimize stress? I’d love to hear about it in the comments :)
